WIDP promotes technology for sustainable and ecologically sound growth and the advancement of cutting-edge technologies to improve the quality of life in urban and rural areas, with emphasis on the uses of technology centers and transfers of advanced systems and best practices. Whereever possible, if the conditions exist, WIDP will promote global technology transfers through self financing systems.

This, of course presents greater opportunities for existing telecommunications companies in the developing world to make a leap into the 21st century cutting edge technoologies without having to dispose of major appropriations of funds which in some cases is not readily availiable to them.
